When asked why they wanted to sponsor a team within Soccer 7s, Stevie replied:

“I remember the year before I was at the age for playing Soccer 7s being told I was too young. I was absolutely devastated and cried for hours to my mum.”

“When my time came, it was brilliant playing in a competitive league with players from other primary schools. So many good players have come through Soccer 7s over the years and many have went on to play junior and highland league football.”

“It’s so important that we have organisations like Soccer s to get kids outside playing sports. Local business’ have a responsibility to support the area in which they operate so that’s why we have committed.”

The club’s Chairman, Paul Lynch added, “It’s fantastic to have local companies that want to give back to the community and support Soccer 7s. We had the opportunity to ask Graham Murdoch why he decided to sponsor a team within Forres Area Soccer 7s, and he said – “We’re delighted to sponsor Forres Soccer 7s because it provides young people of the town a fantastic opportunity to get involved in sport and make new friends outside of school. Moreover, the social and team-building skills these young people develop will stay with them for life. It’s great that Forres Area Soccer 7s is such an inclusive organisation with participation encouraged by both girls and boys.”

We have been dealing with them for the last couple of years, where they have been supplying our kitchen on a Sunday morning with lovely sausages. To have local companies show the support they do is overwhelming and Soccer 7s would not be able to offer such a great place for children without companies like Murdoch Butchers.”

We had the opportunity to ask the Cleaning Genie herself, Danyelle Simpson, why she wanted to sponsor Soccer 7s – ‘I have been involved with volunteering for the Soccer 7’s for over 5 years now and when becoming a business owner 2 years ago it only seemed right. I started out as kitchen manager for the club and now have taken on the child protection officer role and have thoroughly enjoyed both roles, it’s so good for the kids to get up and out playing football on a Sunday morning and it’s even more rewarding that I can be part of a fantastic team to make that happen’

When we spoke with Stewart (the owner) he had this to say ‘We have always supported clubs and events in and around our local area.  This year we decided to support Forres Soccer 7’s.  My eldest son Louis has been attending these sessions for the past couple years, so I have witnessed the hard work and dedication that goes into running the club.  My youngest son will be attending this year too, so I personally will look forward to attending the Sunday morning training and games to watch.’  

He also added, ‘Forres Soccer 7’s is such a great offering to the community and kids of all ages and skills, everyone is made to feel welcome; well done and let’s hope for another good season.  We are very proud to be a sponsor for the next 3 years.’

Stew n Drew’s manufacture dairy ice cream from their factory in Hopeman.  They have a small seasonal shop on the main street in Hopeman from which you can select from an array of 24 different flavours of ice cream, plus dairy free options.

Their main business is wholesaling ice cream.  They manufacture and distribute throughout Scotland, supplying everything from corner shops to hotels, restaurants, cafes, and other ice cream parlours. They have been producing ice cream for 9 years now and look forward to moving into their new purpose premises this time next year.

When asked why he agreed to sponsoring a team Mr Stuart Allan said “Having played in Soccer 7s when I was younger and then been involved in coaching, I have a long-standing history with Soccer 7s. Now my own two boys are in Soccer 7s, it felt right to continue to be involved by sponsoring a team, and now the boys play in my team which is fantastic to see.”

Mr Allan also mentioned “Soccer 7s is a great organisation which has given so many kids enjoyment over the years. One of the great things about Soccer 7s is, it gives everyone a chance, regardless of their ability. There is a lot of work which goes on behind the scenes, and I’m sure all the parents and children are very grateful to all those which continue to make it a great success.”

Forres Area Soccer 7s Chairman, Paul Lynch added “I am overwhelmed with the response for team sponsors and to have another great local company offer to support us, is just incredible. Without the continued support from the community, the club would not be in the great position we are in today, being able to offer football to children aged 4 – 16 years old.”

When asked why they wanted to continue their sponsorship with Forres Area Soccer 7’s Mr Benny Malone (owner) replied ‘This was an easy decision for me, Soccer 7s do a fantastic job and by doing my small part of sponsoring a team, helps the club provide football for all these kids. Having been a coach with Soccer 7s in the past, I know just how hard all the coaches work and it really pays off when you see all the smiling faces after their sessions.”
