Sport Relief 2016

10th December 2015 By Forres Area Soccer 7s

Forres Area Soccer 7s will be the place to be to take part in Sport
Relief 2016 next March.

People in nearby towns and villages are being encouraged to make aIMG_7269 day of the event and head to the Moray town and those who sign up for the Soccer 7s event before the end of December will get 50 per cent off their entry.

The charity is associated with Comic Relief and the Soccer 7s with the help of the Forres Harriers will be running the event on March 20th.

Shaun Moat, chairman of the Soccer 7s said: “It’s great for us to be involved with this Sport Relief event. They put out a plea for help as there were no events in Moray so the board thought it would be great to get in on the action.”

He added: “We really want to make the best out of the event so we are contacting other sport groups to see if they want to have a stand or have ideas to make it a big day out for people. “The nearest events to us are in Aberdeen and Fortrose so we are hoping to attract people from a bit further afield.” Fifty per cent of the money raised at the events funds projects in the world’s poorest communities and the other 50 per cent is used in the UK.
The Soccer 7’s event which will take place in Grant Park is one of over 1,000 events taking place up and down the country.
But Shaun stressed you don’t need to be a fitness fanatic to take part.
“We are encouraging anyone at all to take part. There are different levels. For example, you can choose from one mile, three miles or six miles depending on your ability.
“However whilst the event is not until March, people should get registered now at www.sportrelief.com/events – so they can save money on their entry fee.”

The great skate park debate

12th November 2015 By Forres Area Soccer 7s

Forres Area Community Trust are working with local organisations including the Forres Area Sports Skate ParkHub and young people to assess the potential of a skate park (for skateboards, roller blades, bikes etc.) being built in Forres. The first stage of this process is to gather public feedback regarding this idea.

There was a skatepark beside Forres Academy from 2002-06, which was leased to a skateboarding club. It was closed following claims it was used as a hang-out for non-club skateboards, gang members and youngsters playing truant.

Have your say about the Great Skate Debate by completing a short survey and sign up for more information here.

Local Coffee Shop Sponsors team

6th November 2015 By Forres Area Soccer 7s

Local Costa Coffee Shop in Forres has signed an agreement to sponsor a team for 3 years.Costa logo

Shaun Moat Chairman said ” This is great for the club to be able to secure a deal with a national company such as Costa and it shows that they are intrested in their local communities”.

We hope to build a great relationship with Mary-Jane and her staff at the local shop inside Tesco’s Forres.

About Costa Coffee

Costa Coffee is the UK’s favourite coffee shop. Everyone has a dream, but few are dream makers. In 1971 Bruno and Sergio Costa brought their passion for coffee to London.

In the beginning they traded as a wholesale business, roasting over 40 different coffee blends. By 1978, they had opened their first Costa Coffee shop – giving the people of London a warm, inviting experience, full of community spirit. And so the Costa magic began.

In 1995, Costa was acquired by Whitbread – one of the UK’s leading hospitality businesses, ranked 12th in The Sunday Times Best Big Companies to Work For in 2015 and also home to brands including Premier Inn, Beefeater Grill, Table Table and Brewers Fayre. Samuel Whitbread’s founding spirit to put people and customers first and embrace innovation has stood for 250 years, and perfectly matches Costa’s approach and ambition.

Bakers taste sweet deal

26th October 2015 By Forres Area Soccer 7s

Macleans Highlnd BakeryWe have another local business that has renewed their sponsorship agreement. Maclean’s Highland Bakery are staying with us for a further three years. Lewis has been a long term sponsor of the club.

About Maclean’s Higland Bakery

Maclean’s Highland Bakery has recipes going back over 100 years. The recipes have been handed down from generation to generation of Maclean’s family bakers.

Over this time many things have changed but there are some things the Maclean family will not change: quality of ingredients, quality of the finished product, and eating quality and flavour.

Most of these values are adhered to by not taking short cuts in the baking process. They are proud to say they don’t do things the cheapest way, or even the easiest way, but the RIGHT way. Paying attention to the little things really do produce results in the finished bakery products.
